Rustic Italo-American Hearth for California Mountain Living
October 10, 2016
Our latest custom stone + wood project is a contemporary rustic hearth in a modern California mountain home. Like all of our projects, this one is unique and embodies our philosophy of Custom Beauty in Any Size.
Working around the original placement of the wood stove and concrete setting, we used a blend of hickory wood and classic Italian travertine stone to create a multi-dimensional backsplash in this rustic California home. Protruding rectangular shelves give the checkered wall an added spatial element, while the handmade benches designed of metal and wood were made specifically to enhance the ambiance of the hearth and its new setting.
The best part about this project was that Daniele was given a budget and complete creative freedom by the client. Although it was a small project compared to some of our work, as it unfolded, the hearth became a true labor of love. Our goal was to create an inviting setting that embodied the beauty of the Tuscan countryside and the preciseness of Italian design. The result was a unique expression of Tuscan heritage, handcrafted artisanship, and California mountain living.
We strive for perfection, down to the smallest detail. Our tiles have a border of 1/16th inch and our tile placement is strategic. Under the practiced hand of Daniele, a second generation Italian stone carver, the natural grains in the wood and the innate color fluctuations and veining in the stone guide our tile placement. Even the light switch was manipulated to add texture to the wall. Beauty is paramount, but functionality is just as important.
The attention to detail and creativity in this home project showcases our driving philosophy: Custom Beauty in Any Size.

Find us in Portland!
January 24, 2014
The Vero Stone is pleased to announce our expansion to Portland, Oregon. With our focus on craftsmanship and our expanding collaboration with one of America’s top luxury designers, Portland-based J Lamb Studio, and visionary artist and glass gallery, Ian Gilula and Elements Glass, The Vero Stone will soon be opening our newest office in the west coast’s fastest growing city, Portland, Oregon.
Why Portland? First off, it’s a hub for the arts and cultural activities, offering local art scenes, shows, and events plus initiatives for sustainability and design innovation. Our new urban paradise, apart from offering the best cuisine north of San Francisco, also hosts major design and architecture events. Second, like us, Portland area citizens have a deep appreciation for artisanship, contemporary design, and ecologically sustainable products.
Leveraging the collaborative nature of the contemporary design culture in Portland, we have forged relationships with local artisans who are doing amazing things with materials such as glass, wood, and metal. Together we are creating innovative concepts that combine hand chiseled Italian natural stone elements with these other artisan materials for a fascinating variety of interior and exterior applications. Right now we are focused on our main project for the year – the grand opening of a collaborative showroom in downtown Portland where we’ll showcase our Vero-Lamb signature line and other collaborative works.
There’s more for The Vero Stone beyond Portland. In 2014, owner Daniele Degli Esposti is looking to strengthen our presence in New York, San Francisco, Miami, and Dallas. If you are interested in learning more about opportunities to partner with The Vero Stone, please email us.

Nexus of Design Genius
January 15, 2014
Every once in a great while, two geniuses intersect in a meeting so rare and serendipitous, it can only be described as a strike of lightning. Such was the first meeting between Italian artisan stone carver, Daniele Degli Esposti, and architectural designer Jeffrey Lamb, of Portland, Oregon when they met five years ago at the PCBC in San Francisco.
Daniele Degli Esposti has crafted hand-cut works of art as a master stone carver for 20 years, creating architectural art pieces including columns, sinks, benches, arches, fireplaces, and capitals, with a specialization in stone flooring. Daniele’s enduring, artistic stonework can be found throughout Italy and California, with design locations as diverse as Siena, San Gimignano, Florence, Sonoma, and San Francisco. Daniele’s creativity, combined with his rare gift for sensing the veins, colors, and inherent shape of the stone has made him one of the most sought-after stone carvers in the world, producing works that can stand proudly next to those of history.
Jeffrey Lamb boasts more than 25 years of experience in high-end architectural design, including the Del Castello loft and gallery and The Metropolitan building, both in Portland, Oregon. In 1991, Jeff embarked on a 12-week travel fellowship to Italy, a country that had always held his interest as a locus of timeless design. His time there studying Carlo Scarpa’s work proved very influential in his future designing, prompting his focus on the artful combination of disparate materials and textures. Jeff, now the Director of Design at Lamb Design Studios, is a genius at dramatically crafted interior spaces with a passion for totality in design. He focuses on the way every detail influences the construction and feel of the whole. The acclaimed designer has a reputation for utilizing only the very best people in every field to realize each piece of his designs; he has a passion for quality and pure excellence and a dynamic, forward-thinking approach.
When Daniele and Jeff met, they quickly discovered that they shared a passion for turning common interior spaces into lasting works of art. They also spoke at length on the fact that when it came to stone, there was really nothing apart from standard slabs available for sinks in the U.S. A partnership was born, and now, these two legendary artists have come together to design a product line that makes true stone artistry available to the U.S. and represents the best combination of their unique talents: The Vero-Lamb line. This artisan bath line brings the best of a combined nearly 50 years of design experience into a stunning collection of functional art, each piece of which will augment the quality and grandeur of any interior space.
When two artists this talented and this preeminent in their fields come together to create great art, it creates a shining moment in design history. Lightning has struck the design world, and Daniele Degli Esposti and Jeffrey Lamb are at the center of the flame.

Sculptural and enchanting, the newest line from Dedalo is the epitome of contemporary design. Offering an array of wash basins, tubs, and shower trays in Italian marble, Dedalo astounds with its ingenuous blend of modern technology and the eternal elements of nature, where clouds, waves, earth, and sky infuse the spirit of Dedalo’s newest collection.
Known for its weightless technology, which renders hand-crafted marble pieces to weights 3 to 5 times lower than the same products in ceramic, Dedalo astounds the industry with its innovative take on the modern bathroom. Solid pieces of marble, each hand selected from quarries in Tuscany, are carefully shaped into elegant works of art.
Dedalo unveils its newest creations this week at the Cersaie Expo in Bologna, Italy. See all of the new Dedalo products here.

Lava Stone now available at West Hollywood’s Pacific Design Center
May 28, 2013
When we walked into Creative Environments Inc. a few months ago on a whim, we were absolutely delighted with the gracious welcome we received from Denise and her sister. What started as a brief introduction turned into a long discussion on the quality of Italian stone, the applications you can achieve with our products and material, and highlights from projects we’ve done around the world.
We’re excited to announce that CEI is now showing our natural and glazed lava stone by Ranieri Pietra Lavica. Quarried from Italy’s Mt. Vesuvius near Pompeii and glazed at the base of the mountain in kilns over 1000 ° celsius, The Vero Stone lava stone is a modern take on an 1800s classic.
CEI has been at its West Hollywood location in the Pacific Design Center since 1996. The showroom specializes in high-quality tile and natural stone flooring, fireplaces, fountains, and glass panels.
Where: 8687 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood, CA 90069
